Why is it important to address mental health in the workplace?

Image
The wellness of the mind and body are inextricably linked. What affects one has an effect on the other. As a result, a healthy mind helps and supports a healthy body, and vice versa. Employers pay for mental illness, and mental health can affect productivity and employee performance. Mental health, like physical health, may be thought of as a continuum. Mental wellness is at one end of the spectrum, while mental disease is at the other. Mental health is defined as the capacity to perform mental functions well, resulting in productive activities, meaningful relationships, and the ability to adapt to change and hardship. These are frequently referred to as domains of wellbeing. Diseases having typical psychiatric diagnoses, such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, are examples of mental illness. Multiple variables, including genetics and biology, as well as their interplay with social and environmental circumstances, can impact mental health and mental disease. Employers ...

Why a wellbeing speaker is necessary for organisation?

Image
The Question arises  Wellbeing is not a one-size-fits-all approach! Why your organisation should hire a wellbeing speaker?   Addressing wellbeing in the workplace is essential for all types of organisations nowadays. Not only because wellbeing and wellness is ‘the talk of the town’ and quickly becoming a highly influential market - it’s estimate the global wellness market at more than $1.5 trillion, with annual growth of 5 to 10 percent ( source ) - but also because numerous studies, research and common sense show that employee wellbeing is key to increased productivity and engagement.  Moreover the average person spends 35% of their total waking hours at work (over a 50-year working life ( source )) thus whether or not we feel happy, engaged and valued at work has a major effect on our sense of wellbeing in our lives as a whole. Organisations and workplaces have huge responsibility when it comes to the wellbeing of our population as a whole.     ...

Why leadership is important and must be addressed deeply

Image
As you’ll know, if you’ve ever considered improving your skills and abilities in order to obtain, or sustain, a leadership position in your organisation or business, there are a lot of talks, trainings, various books and courses on ‘good leadership’ out there.  And rightly so. We do need effective, competent and integrous leaders in all sectors, both business and public, considering the challenges our society is currently facing. Leaders will need to collaborate across differences and divides and so leaders need to be able to compromise - and they need to be prepared to serve! Leadership is not about authority and power. We need leaders that can inspire us to come together and guide us towards the right solutions. This is why leadership is important and it’s what I’ve seen to be true in my career working as a leadership keynote speaker for large international businesses and organisations.        Organisations and businesses also need to put resource...

Leadership Tips to Create Strong Organisational Foundation.

Image
What constitutes a healthy organisation? A healthy organisation is one in which everything happens in accordance with the overarching goal. In such an atmosphere, there is constant organisational growth and process improvement. Employees are highly motivated, co-operative and there is mutual caring and sharing. Sounds utopian, doesn't it? It could be, but such groups, both huge and little, do exist. And such an organisation is entirely conceivable to evolve. The "leader" is at the top of an organisational structure, and the defining characteristics of a leader are found to permeate all associates who work for him. As a result, in order to maintain a healthy business, the leadership must remain healthy - and this "health" extends far beyond physical well-being. A leader is said to be successful when his or her colleagues may look up to him or her at all times and feel completely comfortable. A good leader has clear communication, honesty, trust, and sincerity. Em...

How To Attain Resilience?

Image
To cope with a tough time, it's important to be resilient—able to bounce back from adversity and keep moving forward. The ability to persevere through any situation is resilience. When times are tough, it keeps you going. It's what enables you to resolve issues and emerge stronger afterward. Although building resilience is a talent you can develop over time, there are still certain things you can do on your own right now. These three suggestions: 1) Determine your triggers , first. What causes you to feel frail or exposed? Pay attention to these emotions and how they affect your life; then, do your best to tackle them with the best decisions and humility. 2) Make little goals for yourself each day that will help you become more resilient. For example, take a stroll around the block rather than rushing out for coffee, call a friend, allot 20 minutes at the end of the day for meditation or yoga, etc. Don't wait until everything is ideal before starting because these tiny thi...

How Mental health and Wellbeing has become a necessary asset for companies?

Image
Wellness is one area where forward-thinking organisations have excelled in the wake of the epidemic.  Wellness weeks, Work from home, and enticing benefit packages are becoming standard. This masks the reality that we frequently remain mired in learned behaviours, which are the anthills of wellbeing. We could have bad spending habits, alcohol and sugar addictions, unwillingness to exercise, unchecked negative thinking patterns, or other things that keep us tiny. Just like Persian poet Rumi, who said, "Maybe you are hunting among the branches for what only occurs in the roots." In order to pursue wellness effectively, one must also engage in resilience training and maintain good mental health. Time is one of the areas in which organisations may contribute in a real and significant way. It's crucial to encourage folks to spend their lunch and evening hours with activities that make them feel happy. Doubtful since individuals frequently overwork as a coping mechanism for str...

Best Resilience Speaker in UK | Ronan Harrington

Resilience describes the ability to manage shocks and continue through disruption in the short term, and to adapt to stresses and other challenges that will present in the longer term. The current environment has been described as a perfect storm of stress factors, with ever-increasing demand for resources from a growing and aging population; and a rapidly changing environment as a result of climate change, with a knock on impact of new diseases. A new conceptualization of resilience must be evolutionary-based, enable a thorough cross-species research, and set the stage for meticulous data collection that tests its specific expression across developmental stages, contexts and psychopathological conditions. How can you develop resilience? Because attitude and response are so important in defining resilience, it is a unique skill. It's an adaptable way of thinking that takes time to master, along with ways for altering one's initial reaction to something terrible or unwelcome.  A...
